Accessible Random Picker

Simple Picker Wheel is designed to be a keyboard-friendly and screen-reader-friendly random picker. The goal is simple: add entries, spin, hear the winner, and choose whether to spin again or close the result.

This page explains the accessibility choices built into the picker and how they are meant to work.

Keyboard-friendly controls

The main controls are reachable by keyboard. On page load, focus starts at the site title, and the first Tab moves to the main Spin button. When a spin starts, the control changes to Stop Spin so keyboard users have a clear way to cancel an accidental spin.

Screen-reader winner announcements

When the wheel lands on a winner, the page announces the result in a short status message, such as Winner: Dakota Lee. Spin Again or Close. Focus then moves to the Spin Again button. The next Tab reaches Close.

Simple winner controls

The winner popup uses only two keyboard choices: Spin Again and Close. While the popup is open, Tab and Shift+Tab stay inside those two choices. Closing the popup returns focus to the main Spin button.

Readable names while spinning

Simple Picker Wheel keeps the names visually readable while the arrow or ball moves. The wheel graphics are visual only for screen-reader users, so keyboard focus does not move through every wheel slice.

Accessible setup options

Entry order, pointer style, and theme use grouped radio-style controls. Sound, remove-winner, and continue-from-last-stop use clear on/off names. The speed control reports the selected spin length, such as Speed slider, 5 seconds.

Privacy-first accessibility

The picker runs in your browser. Lists are not uploaded to an account or public wheel. Browser-only saving can keep entries on the same device, and Clear saved removes saved browser data for this site.

Accessibility notes

Simple Picker Wheel is built to be easier to use with keyboards and screen readers, but accessibility can vary by browser, device, and assistive technology. If something does not behave as expected, the safest fallback is to use the keyboard controls: Spin, Stop Spin, Spin Again, and Close.
